August 11th, 2008

Well the last couple of weeks has been pretty busy. Last weekend I was in Ocean City NJ. Two of the normal a-team did not go. We could have done better. But it was just a practice weekend anyway.

This weekend Jenn and I are going to the Outer Banks, NC with a group of friends. Well they are all Jenn's co-workers and spouses. Should be a good time.

Jenn made me get an iphone. Of course i hacked it. :) it is a damm good phone. Andy likes, andy likey, likes.
More info to come!

Back from vacation. What a blast! I officially want to rename Telluride to TelluRocks!

The flights out were not too bad. We got there around 1pm. We checked things out and went out to dinner. Turns out there are no TGI Fridays in Telluride. :) Actually it is a really cool town. We stayed outside Telluride in what is called Mountain Village. It is where all the resorts are. It was a pretty nice place. It was the first resort in the village. There is a free gondola from Mountain Village (9000 ft) over a mountain (10500 ft) to Telluride (8500 ft). Yeah we were a little short of breath. They tell you to drink LOTS of water. Yeah you can feel the altitude. Dinner in town was good. We found a cool little restaurant.

Friday morning Jenn and I went fly fishing. Yeah it was pretty damm fun. Jenn of course caught the first fish. It took the guide a few minutes to setup my rod since Jenn was catching fish. Getting the guide was such a good idea. They provided all the gear, flies and knowledge of the best holes. Jenn caught a total of 6 fish but missed about 5 more. I caught a total of 5 fish and missed about 5 more. The largest was a 13 inch Brown trout. Other than the Brown we caught Rainbow and Cut-Bow trouts. Turns out Jenn really likes fly fishing. Friday night we went to a really cool Mexican place. It actually was some of the best Mexican food that we have ever had.

Saturday Jenn and I decided to hike the easy trail from town towards a few water falls. The trail started at one end of town and went straight up. It started at 8500 ft and ended at 9800 ft and was only 2.2 miles long. We made it 90% of the way. But with the altitude we were slowing down and getting tired. So we turned around. Good thing it was down hill the whole way home. We had a good lunch at a little saloon. After checking out the town a little bit we headed back to the hotel. Later Jenn got a massage and I got some quality time with the tv.

Sunday we relaxed until check out time. Then started the long process of getting home. Getting in and out of Telluride is interesting. Since it is the highest commercial airport in the US. Planes basically make several left hand turns to get to the runway. Then in order to takeoff they have to gun the engines and climb as quickly as they can. At the one end of the runway is a several hundred foot drop. Our first flight home was very bumpy. High winds, storms in Denver, and a SMALL plane were to blame. On the approach to Denver the plane dropped about 20 feet. Good times! Then our flight from Denver was delayed an hour. More good times. Funny thing about airports, everyone searches for power outlets. The Denver airport even had charging stations all over the place. Pretty cool.

All in all this was a great little trip. Jenn likes fly fishing. And I am thinking about moving out there. Of course Jenn and I will talk about it. I am looking forward to the next vaca.

Psst. Going to the Bahamas for the 1 year anniversary. :)

Mom is home and more.

July 22, 2008

Well after a long time recovering Mom is home. She is still not walking unassisted but she can get around with a walker. Good progress.

Jenn and I are going for a small vaca in Telluride. I get to teach Jenn how to fly fish. It is going to be interesting to see how she does.

The kids (dogs) are good. They are asleep now after a long day at camp (day care). Hey its what yuppies do. ;)

Both jobs have been super busy. USi will soon be more, the new name is AT&T. You might have heard about it? The good news out of that is that we are getting 50% off our cell bills. Not too shabby.

Life is good... even on a bumpy road.

Woohoo

With all the "BS" Jenn and I have been through we need a vacation. We have one planned for the end of July. But I am not sure I can make it that long. Good thing there is drinking and wednesday night sailing!

Mom is still in rehab. At least until the 30th. Then we get to find out if the insurance company is filled with assholes! Yea us!
